Abstract
Rangsit University of Thailand and Can Tho University of Vietnam have been cooperating in constant exchanges of students since 2012. The exchange project that was a joint effort of the two universities has been providing their students with precious opportunities to learn French language communication in the real situations by living in intercultural society. This is also a pioneering and innovative initiative for the mobility of French language students in Asia Pacific. Nevertheless, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the one-semester student exchange project with credit transfer between the two universities staring in August was unfortunately cancelled. Under the extraordinary curcumstances, the implemention of public health measures for prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic has been impacted the student mobility and face-to-face courses in most universities around the world. Therefore, educational institutions have to adapt themselves, and find a solution to ensure the continuity of educational process. Accordingly, Rangsit University working in partnership with Can Tho University has created and developed a new virtual student mobility platform. The two universities have launched their new project called “Mobility of Distance Learning of French Language Students”. Under this project, the two universities’ students took one-semester distance learning courses conducted by professors from both sides. This study mainly demonstrates the conceptualization of the project and its realization progress. The opinions and suggestions of the participants of these international distance learning courses are properly used for analysis on this project. The conclusion focuses on the conditions of virtual university development and the generalizing of formation of university in virtual mode.
